14 June 2016Here at Solved hr we see our fair share of CV’s coming through, and most are fairly standard, but every now and again we get one with a job title that has us scratching our heads in bewilderment. The candidates themselves are not always to blame though. In the ever increasingly competitive world of recruitment, companies are also trying to entice in a better caliber of applicant. Would you be more likely to apply for the job of ‘Digital Overlord’ or ‘Website Manager’? I know which one I’d go for! So is this the way forward, a new way of getting your CV noticed? Or maybe an ingenious way of getting different people to apply for a position they may not usually look twice at? Those in Digital Marketing, given their creative nature, seem to be taking this idea and running with it, giving themselves some imaginative titles such as ‘Conversation Architect’ – Digital Marketing Manager, ‘Director of Fun’ – Director of Marketing, ‘New Media Guru’ – Digital Marketing Manager and ‘Social Media Trailblazer’ – Digital Marketing Executive.
On that note, I’m off to change the job title on my business cards to ‘Personnel Overlord’!
